Superb non-adhesive limp vellum binding with exposed vellum manuscript tapes, gold-tooled edgework design, and red calligraphed spine title; housed in a black and red tray case. Handpress-printed and calligraphed artistís book with a particularly novel invention, having the additional letters accrue each page, with added red calligraphic hand-illumined leaf flourishes progressively enlarging. Issued in an edition of only 36 copies, this example no. 35, printed on J. Whatman, T. H. Saunders, and Crown & Sceptre papers, on rectos only. A collaborative work by Lohmann, Cohen and Milroy, this whimsical book presents an evolving alphabet: 25 calligraphed partial alphabets printed from polymer plates in black, with the alphabet progressively completed by original hand-drawn red calligraphy added to each copy. Deckled and trimmed leaves.The colophon is printed from a polymer plate with the limitation and signature supplied by hand in red. Book and box are fine.
