Inscribed to Mrs. Daniel (Emily Daniel), of Daniel Press, from John Lane, the publisher, on front free fly to Emily Daniel: “Mrs Daniel, with kind regards from John Lane. Dec 3. 1894” (only weeks after its first impression in November of 1894 as per Kraus). Emily, along with her husband Charles Henry Daniel, founded the renowned Daniel Press in 1881, and Emily pursued her private interest in bookbinding, becoming accomplished and quite well-known. From the Walter and Dorothy Donnelley Collection, with their bookplate, noted collectors with diverse and far-reaching interests, especially literature and the humanities. Scarce thus. Book is fine.
