A wonderfully preserved souvenir for the famed Vienna Ball of 1911 comprising a wonderfully ornate silver-plated lid box in oval shape, marked on the bottom, "Wilhelm Melzer Vienna VII," (Austrian, active 1889ñ1911); as well as a 36 card souvenir book with photographic illustrations based on designs by Remigius Geyling that neatly fits inside the box, with printed and ornately decorated cover, "Ball Der Staadt Wien, 7 February, 1911," designed by Remigius Geyling (Austrian, 1878ñ1974) and printed by Gerlach und Wiedling (Austrian, early 20th century). The booklet has the original red and white silk ties which end in a clasp and bouffant spray. "In memory of the completion of the 2nd Emperor Franz Josef Hochquellenleitung." Silver-plated box approx. 11 x 7.5 x 3 cm, with four "feet," at bottom, lid hinge, above the coat of arms of the city of Vienna with the inscription "Ball der Stadt Wien February 1911." Near fine condition with original patina on silver.
