Howell was a working class politician and agitator who was secretary of the parliamentary committee of the Trades Union Congress TUC (1871-1875) 392pp. 4pp. advertisements at end, half-title and verso of final advertisement leaf browned. William Morris and George Howell had similar sympathies and worked alongside the debates in Parliament ca. 1874-7, concerning the growing conflict Russia and Turkey, and Morris met personally with the leaders of the Labour Representation League, including Howell in 1876. A near fine copy.
