The Princess; A MedleyLondon: Edward Moxon, 1847.
First edition. Original green cloth with ornate blindstamped border on both covers. GEORGE MEREDITH'S COPY, with his signature at the top of the title page and with one line marginalia on rear endsheet opposite the last page of verse, as if to offer a better suggestion, Meredith writes: "Last little Lilia, rising noiselessly," versus Tennyson's verse, "Last little Lilia, rising without sound." First issue with November 1, 1847 ads in front. Slightly cocked, a bit of wear to top and bottom of spine, slight string mark center of boards, a few crimped sheets, else a nice clean and very good copy.
