First Dublin Edition. Three volumes. Contemporary calf, gilt monogram on covers (EC for "Edward Crofton" owner who has inscribed his name on all three title-pages), morocco labels on spine. Extremely scarce first Dublin edition which was published concurrently with the First Edition (J. Robinson, London). Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey is a parody of this gothic novel, also mentioned in Austen's book. Usual wear to calf covers, remarkably tight copies with no loose signatures, clean with usual discoloration, no creasing or tearing. An important and scarce survival.
